| Course Description |
This course introduces students to the challenges and opportunities in the diverse field of Social Work and demonstrates how the profession is distinct from other helping professions. Students will have the opportunity to draw on the experiences of practicing professionals as they explore and design a career path of special interest. Among other ideas, we will examine the preparation for, requirements of, and professional issues in social work, including 1) ethics in client-worker relationships 2) the role of technology in social work, and 3) the incursion of managed care and human service corporations. As a result of participating in the seminar, students will be prepared to outline an educational and professional career plan suited for a Social Work career. |

| Course Description |
The purpose of this course will be to introduce non-business major students to the different career options available to them on Wall Street. This is not designed to encourage them to change majors, but instead to allow them to begin to explore and prepare themselves for this future career path should they so choose.
Even for students who do major in business, the different roles that Wall Street participants play is not clear to the average student. While Investment Banking has typically been a catch-all phrase, what does an Investment Banker really do? What is the difference between Sales & Trading and why are they often used in the same sentence? Through a careful exploration of the different roles and the understanding of the recommended traits required for success in different job functions, students will be able to choose what path they believe fits them best.
